Spicy cilantro cream cheese - a first, even with vast New Yorker bagel experience. I wish they had everything bagels but I was happy to find this local hole in the wall recommended by a mainer.

I stopped by this bakery within minutes of its opening and was disappointed at how few baked goods were available. Most likely a visit later in the morning would have yielded more variety. I settled on a pair of hazelnut and chocolate scones that, though fresh, proved to be flavor-lite.

We stopped in for a whole blueberry pie to take back to our hotel rather than pay $6 a slice in the restaurants known for having "good" pie. BEST decision ever! The crust was flaky and tasty. Not soggy on the bottom even though the pie was packed with a dense fruit filling. The friendly employee said it was still warm and suggested I keep the box open during transport. Good tip. Great pie!

Our favorite breakfast location in Bar Harbor. Bagel sandwiches are on super fresh bagels. Cinnamon bun was excellent. Great sunny window seat up front. Cell phones off were nice change (reviews done after you leave!). Alternative and sustainable vibe.

Went to this bakery while on vacation. The small establishment was very busy and the girls working the counter were very obviously overwhelmed. Our coffee was cold, we had to wait quite a while for more decaf to be brewed. Our server was short and rude when we inquired on the status of the bagels we'd ordered. I was barked at by a counter person because my cell phone rang. And the server insisted I hadn't paid for 1 of the bagels when I had already given her money TWICE. Unless you have hours to spare and don't care how you're treated or how much your charged, don't bring your business here!!

The best blueberry pie. I had several things on my food bucket list for Maine: a lobster roll, blueberry ice cream, blueberry pie, maybe a whole lobster, etc. We ended up grabbing a slice of blueberry pie from somewhere else while we were in town, but decided to ferry an entire pie from Maine to New York for my parents. I wish I could bake this thing. Chock full of blueberries, not too sweet, soft chewy underbelly, flaky crust, I can only imagine how awesome it would have been fresh out of the oven with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. The store smells unbelievably good as soon as you open the screen door. I didn't notice anything off about the service but then again, I didn't use my cell phone as we were buying. They bake their pies in the afternoon. No pies by the slice in the afternoon, either. I would not have had a problem killing half a blueberry pie on my own, but a slice would have been the more sensible option.

It's amazing how everyone's experiences can be so different. For my wife and I, we had a 5 star experience at Morning Glory Bakery! We were welcomed with a smile and hello as soon as we walked into the door. Their display case was filled with lovely looking desserts. I was hoping that they tasted as good as they looked. The location of the bakery is a bit hidden from the main trafficky streets. There was hardly anyone walking along their street. The whole town was pretty quiet that early November day because many shops had closed for the season. Well, being as we were in the great state of Maine, I was craving some Maine Blueberry desserts! Morning Glory Bakery caught my eye during my research. So glad it did because we were not disappointed! We tried the following: Brownie was good. Did not eat it right away. Ate it at the end of the day. (3.5 stars) Blueberry Muffin was tasty. Would order this blueberry filled dessert again. (4 stars) Blueberry Pie was really yummy! It more than satisfied my blueberry cravings! I recommend giving it a try. (4.5 stars) Pecan Pie Bar was my favorite item that we tried. They were not stingy with the ingredients. It looked great, and it tasted even better!!! After we shared one at the shop, we bought another two to enjoy later (and enjoy we did)!! (5 stars) Now, everytime we go to Bar Harbor, Maine.....I guarantee that we will be going to Morning Glory Bakery!

Asked for a refund after waiting 20 min for a bagel and cream cheese. The scones we took home were mediocre. Place is understaffed and overwhelmed. Very limited selection on a Sunday at 930 am when you'd think they would have the best selection. Cannot comprehend the 5 star reviews. Will not return.
(1)Rosy R.
Amazing food but PLEASE get more front counter help 20 min wait today for 1 bagel.. This is a popular spot , but the waiting line is tiresome
(5)Kate K.
Great bakery in Bar Harbor... Pastries, bagels, pies, sandwiches, and coffee are all yummy. The blueberry pie is awesome. The staff works like crazy and still manages to smile. I just left BH and already miss this place!
(5)Trish S.
They were rude and obnoxious to us. Their bagels are nothing but bread with a hole in the center- But then again, I come from NJ. We were told they were the best Bakery in Bar Harbor. We beg to differ on that. We will not be returning

Organic Bakery on Rodick Street next to Side Street Cafe in Bar Harbor. Small variety of bagels, baked goods, breads, pies, coffee, as well as sandwiches and salads. I've read the other reviews and it seems people either love or hate the baked goods. While I would not say that they are excellent, I would say they are good. I am a creature of habit, so I normally get the same thing every time. 3 seed bagel, sausage, egg, and cheese. It does take about 10 minutes on average to get my sandwich. I have no problem with this. Not that long of a wait. If the sandwich was mediocre, then maybe I'd be a bit bent. The sandwich is always piping hot. Egg and sausage cooked perfectly, cheese is melty, and bagel is crisp and soft at the same time. I will address a couple of things that I saw in other reviews. The staff being unfriendly and rude... I have never had an issue with the staff. I have always found them well mannered. One year the counter girls remembered my name after a couple visits, which I am a sucker for. The owner (at least I think she is the owner) is always happy and bubbly, and I have often heard her singing while baking on more than one occasion. I wish more people would sing in public places. No cell phones. Correct. I for one LOVE this. There is nothing more irritating than standing in line, and the douche canoe in front of you is either Facebooking, Twittering, Twindering, Instagraming, Tumbling, StumbleUponing, WFW'ing, Angry Birding, PornHubing, etc... Maybe put the phone down and you can remember how to have a conversation. Oh, you are alone? It's okay, pal. Live in the present while you are in line. Listen to the sounds, absorb the smells and eyeball the baked goods in the display. Maybe say good morning to a stranger. You'll survive w/o your phone for 10 minutes. Some other things... There is limited seating. Maybe 5 tables and about 6 window seats. Oh! And there are 2 seats outside in the front of the building. When you walk in the door, gently close the screen door, don't just let it go. It's effing loud when it hits the door jam. There is a $5.00 credit card minimum. Now, let me address the one issue I have with them. The contradicting hours. Their website, Facebook, and front door sign all seem to be different. THey also have a sign in their front window that says, "Year Round". Maybe they were at one point in time, but not any longer. Go eat here. Unless you are a dick. Don't be a dick. That is all.

If you're looking for a quick place to grab something and go in the morning check this place out. It won't knock your socks off but their bagels are decent (make sure to ask for them to toast it) and they have a variety of cool Maine cream cheeses like maple walnut, and blueberry (had real blueberries in it). Their blueberry muffins are ok too, not too sweet like a dunkin donuts one.
(3)Kayla C.
I really really enjoyed grabbing breakfast from Morning Glory Bakery during my visit to Bar Harbor! After an early morning trek over to Bar Island, my SO and I ran into Morning Glory Bakery to pick up some breakfast. They offer a wide variety of food, including bagels, scones, breakfast sandwiches, quiche, and bakery items. I ordered a egg, sausage, and cheese bagel sandwich with an organic iced coffee. The coffee was definitely the best I'd had in Bar Harbor and the breakfast sandwich was so filling. The bakery is a little bit hidden on the street so unless you are actively looking for it, you just may pass it by!
(4)Mark B.
The rudest customer service I experienced during my entire visit to what was otherwise a great trip to Bar Harbor. The women behind the register was utterly rude and snappy. I don't care how good the food may (or may not) be - I will NEVER give a single penny to this business. I was simply trying to order a cake for my daughters 16th birthday and this women yelled at me for holding my phone - holding it, not talking into it or using it - just holding it. She snapped at me that this was "a cell phone free zone". That's great but I wasn't using my phone. I apologized anyway and put the phone away. The when it was my turn in line. she ignored me not once, but twice and took the customers that were after me. Finally I politely said excuse me, I was here before them, she snapped and asked "what do you want" Me - "I'd like some help with a cake" Her - "what do you want with a cake" Me - "I'd like to see what kind of birthday cakes you have" Her - sigh like really do I have to help you, " we have all kinds of cakes". No eye contact, just snappy. Me - "you know what I'd rather get my cake anywhere else. Thank you for being so rude" Do not give these people your business. I have better ways to spend my money then giving it to people who are rude and mean.
(1)Jon S.
I completely forgot how bad the service was here and mistakenly went there again. Bagels are good, but they are mean about no cell phone usage and threw down bagels on counter and expected me to wrap them and put them in bag, etc.
(1)Josh Z.
Fast and delicious. We stopped before our boat tour, the service was fast and the bagels were great. Definitely get the spicy cilantro cream cheese!
(5)Amy Z.
Blueberry muffin pretty plain, not a lot of berries but good texture. Blueberry streusel was too sugary, at one point had a chunk of sugar. Service was not friendly but was quick.
(2)Clark L.
The egg sandwich I had here was amazing. I had 2 eggs, with cheddar and sausage on a 3 seed wheat bagel. The menu here is extremely understated. A lot of places spend a lot of time tooting there local, organic, natural horns, but this place delivered. The bagel was clearly made on premises and was amazing. Get the whole wheat, it had an excellent nutty flavor and was plenty light and moist. I liked it better than the white version. The eggs were clearly fresh and the sausage was home made not a pre-processed patty. The cheese was perfect. This place is basically the anti-DuncanDonuts. Americano Coffee and Chai tea were also excellent.
(5)Joseph R.
Few things to keep in mind before you come here. Their espresso machine might be broken. They might be out of a bunch of stuff on the menu. They might, at 10:59, cut you off at the 11:00 limit for ordering a few breakfast items (even though they only close a few hours later, so why even have a cut off?). They might take absolutely forever to make your sandwich. The bread might be floppy white bread devoid of taste. The quiche and the pecan bars might also be lacking in flavor. Usually Yelp doesn't steer us wrong. We thought this place'd be great. Hopefully you have a five-star experience, but sadly, we did not.
(1)Jennifer H.
I wish I could give this 2.5 stars. We went here on our first morning in town for bagel egg sandwiches. I was excited to try the whole wheat cheddar bagel, but sadly it was rock hard. The inside of the sandwich was great: Eggs, cheese and we each paid $1 extra for tomatoes, but the bagel was seriously so hard and difficult to bite through. Sadness. I also ordered a "pregame" cookie, as they called it, to go, which was butterscotch and something else. I was sad when I opened my little baggie on a hike later and saw it was a hard, crumbly, chocolate chip coconut cookie of some sort by mistake. :( Nevertheless, we went back another day for lunch to try their sandwiches, because let's face it, I didn't see many other fun, healthy sandwich options in Bar Harbor and we were excited by the sandwich menu. We ordered the curried chicken salad sandwich and the fresh mozz sandwich with sunflower pesto. We were told by the young man working that there are two bread options: sourdough or wheat. Since my husband and I would be sharing, I said that we wanted both and which sandwich would go better with which one? He looked at me like I was asking a crazy question and replied that he hasn't tried the bread. Seriously? You work in a bakery and don't know the difference between two breads enough to make a recommendation? Ugh. Anyway, the sandwiches were awesome. That is why the 2.5 stars. We loved both of them. They were over-stuffed, flavorful (especially the curried chicken salad) and we ate every last crumb. Go for the sandwiches, skip the cookies, and try not to focus on the unknowledgable staff.
(3)Catherine W.
Ordered the curried chicken salad sandwich, the egg salad sandwich, and a meatloaf sandwich. Was a little underwhelmed given the price we paid and the gourmet ingredients- the egg salad had a lot of dill in it, which just wasn't my taste. They were also kind of messy for a packed lunch on a hike (for instance, the meatloaf sandwich was soaked through the bread by the time we ate it, the egg/chicken salad fillings were spilling out. If we go back, we'd try non-sandwich items.
(3)Konrad P.
This płace can NOT handle volume. Visa/MasterCard only. Burnt the croissants I ordered. Didn't bother reheating the new ones. Took forever. Messed up coffee orders. My Breve tasted burnt. Overpriced food as well. Only 1 register and the guy was borderline incompetent. The only reason it has 2 stars is because the food was bearable.
(2)Cara G.
Stopped here on the recommendation of one of the locals who works in the bike shop. The curried chicken salad sandwich on honey oat bread was very good and filling. They really stuff it full of chicken salad. We also got the fudge brownie which was excellent. We stopped here near the end of their day and there was not much left so definitely get there earlier. The place is a little ragged looking inside and sparse but I guess that's the laid back crunchy look they are going for. The screen in their screen door was half hanging off! I pushed my hand right through it.
(3)bubba g.
In a word, meh. No custom orders on breakfast sandwiches. Very limited options after 0900 indicates lack of management planning. It might be great at 0600, but that doesn't carry later in the day selection, staff attitudes (lack of charm/courtesy), or overall disdain for technology (no cell phone policy??). Seems stuck in time with 'my way of the highway' attitude in a service-oriented town.
(2)Elisabeth E.
Stopped in here a couple of times as I was walking around Bar Harbor. I had the hot chocolate (very noms) and they always have at least one gluten free baked good. Both times I stopped in they were these incredibly decadent chocolate cookies. Had I not been told they were gluten free I would have had NO IDEA! Super affordable baked goods. I've also heard locals rave about their soups and sandwiches, which I have not had the pleasure of trying. Service very friendly and helpful regarding finding out what is and is not gluten free. Seems like a nice cozy little place to enjoy a coffee and snack! Definitely worth a try
(4)Maria K.
This place not only had the best food we had the whole trip but the service was perfect. Good food? YES! Try one of their fresh bagels with spicy cilantro cream cheese, OR Ralphy sandwich (Organic curried chicken salad with Cucumbers and Greens), OR the delicious raspberry cheese danish to the mouthwatering cheese pretzels (with cheddar, parmesan, basil, black pepper and salt). You will not go hungry in this place. And most importantly, they support local farming! We liked it so much that we came back to stock up on treats for to make the 10 hour drive back more enjoyable. Service? We were those difficult customers who were still making up their mind as we were ordering (and we ordered a LOT!... everything looked so good) but the person taking our order was courteous, friendly, understanding and not pushy (everything you want on vacation)
(5)Ann S.
I feel Yelp duped on this one. Went in the morning and there wasn't much selection, the staff wasn't welcoming at all and seemed irritated we were even there. We took the blueberry strudel back to the house 2 blocks away and thank God we had access to a microwave because on its own...VERY dry. Warming it up softened things up a bit but not great and definitely wouldn't need to go back.
(2)Mellie D.
Went for the much-touted blueberry pie. It was good. But it didn't knock my socks off. Maybe the reviews raised my expectations too high? Service wasn't particularly warm. Music was annoying - tedious techno - which felt really misplaced and kinda ironic given all the admonitions that the cafe was a cell phone free zone - presumably to protect patrons from annoying noise. Most serious culinary let-down was the oppressive cinnamon smell in the air. It was suffocating and seemed like it might have been an air freshener. Made it impossible to truly taste the pie!!

Visited for breakfast during a trip to Bar Harbor in early June, just as the season was starting. Service was fast, coffee and breakfast sandwich were amazing, and they make everything right in front of your. My order was a coffee, a milk, and a breakfast sandwich (sausage, egg, and cheese on a bagel) I shared with my boyfriend. It was filling enough for us, and was about $10. Their lunch options looked tasty and were reasonably priced, so I will be trying that during future trips. I wish they had more seating inside, and the noise level was higher than I appreciated before/during my first coffee of the day, but it was a lovely place.
(5)Lori S.
The pastries, breads, sandwiches are all great, made with care from great, often local, ingredients. But in addition it is the kind of place that during a predawn power outage in the dead of winter will fire up the gas stoves and ovens and light kerosene lanterns in the front window as a beacon, drawing the work- and school-bound cold and hungry toward a toasty warm breakfast. I truly love the little corner of the world that is MDI but of all it's shops and eateries I love Morning Glory best of all.
(5)Jeff K.
For excellent coffee in Bar Harbor, go to Morning Glory Bakery. Sip your coffee and eat a pastry while sitting in Adirondack chairs in their small front garden.
(5)Irene I.
The sandwiches were amazing. It was such a nice break to eat here after being inundated with seafood signs everywhere. I tried both cookies and they were not as good as they looked. I now wish I got a different pastry instead. Sandwiches range from $8 and up.
(4)Derrick Y.
This place is a pretty good choice if you're up early, as most establishments are still closed. The service in the morning is fine, the coffee is decent, and there is a good selection of items to choose from. I had a curry-stuffed pastry that was a bit bland but did have some curry flavor to it. Nothing was stand-out spectacular, but nonetheless I enjoyed my visit.
(3)Sarah S.
Blueberry muffins are awesome! Best I've had in Bar Harbor and everything else looked just as good (if not better).
(5)David S.
Pie (and other treats) wee delicious. We wanted to order one of each, but settled for the blueberry pie. It was the best pie we have ver had. I wish they would have a mail order service.
(5)Sam F.
Had two great breakfasts here on a mid September weekend- fabulous pie. It would have been cool to have some of their house granola with some zesty local yogurt. Great community space- just remember, no cellphones ;)
(4)Robert M.
Cute little bakery. There selection is not too bad, but it is limited. Some of the items on sale were not 'that day' fresh, but still looked good. We had the Blueberry Pie, a cookie and another blueberry danish. The pie was good, but there were better elsewhere but still not bad. The Chocolate Chip cookie was the star of the day. The other blueberry danish was a little underwhelming. Lacked the blueberry punch. They did have a blueberry cheesecake that looked simply amazing. Would have loved to have tried it but they would only sell it to us if we bought the whole thing. All in all the food was good the service could have used some help. I am sure they were a little short and non-customer friendly because it was the end of the day. I can imaging early in the morning they are probably a great pleace to go and sit.
(3)Travel B.
Had a most wonderful 3-seed bagel with maple-walnut-raisin-cream cheese. Out of this world!! The second item which was a spinach white bean sausage pocket was so-so. Found out later that they do have a little toaster to warm it up which they could have offered to me earlier but didn't.
(4)Albert W.
First time in Bar Harbor and the kayak guide told me this was the best place for sandwiches. Did not disappoint! I had the meatloaf with the drink with the cookie with the chips and damn it was the bomb for $13. I didn't expect the cookie to be so humungously delicious. The honey wheat plus the meat loaf was just very tasty and filling all around. Local reviews are the best.
(4)James B.
I really want to love this place, I really really do, it fits everything I love, an independent coffee shop with some food options and baked goods, a really cozy setting, what's not to like? The execution is really where it all falls apart, the coffee is fine, the lattes are good, but its not hard to mix steamed milk and coffee. The baked goods simply aren't good. I've tried a few types of bread, always really dry, almost bordering on stale. I've also tried a muffin and one of the delicious looking cupcakes by the register and both were also really really dry. The service is fine, typical of a coffee shop. I haven't had a sandwich, but they seem crazy expensive. On a positive note, the maple raisin cream cheese is awesome.
(2)Lauren A.
Great place for a quick lunch. We are both vegetarian - I had the Annabelle, my boyfriend had the quiche. Both meals were fantastic. I am not a fan of all the disposable products either - as someone else on yelp noted but the packaging was minimal.
(5)Karen S.
We stopped in here for a few goodies to go for while we were driving. Two thumbs up for the pesto pizza, the chicken pocket and OMG the cheesy pretzel. I will be dreaming about that pretzel for days to come. They also had scones, muffins, breads, pies and cupcakes. We'd definitely go back the next time we are in Bar Harbor.
(4)Thomas C.
If you haven't been here be aware seating is extremely limited. A good assortment of artisan bakery items, sandwiches, soup using local and organic. Overall I found this place fairly average as far as these type of places go. I downgrade them for being 100% throw away, too much waste, the building perhaps too small to accommodate dishes and dish washing. I had their borscht (no meat) which I thought was weak (no dill) and the horseradish in the sour-cream somewhat clashy (which may have worked if it was beef based). Also had a blueberry bar which I thought was way too buttery.
(3)Bob S.
Food at the Friends of Acadia 'Take Pride in Acadia Day' included these really, really good blueberry and apple squares. The server said they were from 'Morning Glory', with a knowing nod. So we found the place. for a late morning snack. Had an onion bialy, a chick pea savory pocket and coffee. Excellent. Need to get back and eat around the menu.
(5)Heather F.
The food here is ALWAYS good. This is a great breakfast spot, specifically if you love bagels and delicious flavored cream cheeses. Their sandwiches and bakes goods are fresh, unique and tasty. As far as their food goes this place is top-notch. The only thing you shouldn't expect from this place is friendly service. This place is notorious for having unfriendly staff and a generally unwelcoming vibe the minute they see you step through the door. However, if you go knowing that a bunch of bitches work there but the food is great you should be fine, just don't stick around to eat it.
(3)Terri V.
Delicious! On our way home, my husband picked up some goodies for the ride......Boston cream cupcakes, blueberry cake, and a blondie. All three things were really tasty. Would definitely go back when we come back on vacation!
(5)Karen P.
Small town feel with a big city taste. This place turns out an amazing array of pastries and baked goods. While I can eat pastries for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, they do have an impressively large sandwich, salad, quiche, and soup menu for those who crave something hardier. All organic ingredients and nice vegan options, Morning Glory has something delicious for everyone. Open all year long and serving a strong Carpe Diem coffee, you'll be glad you put on your snow boots to join the friendly crowd at Morning Glory.
(5)Meghan M.
This place is awesome. They have tons of homemade baked goods, coffee items, and lunch delights. We stopped in for bagels and cream cheese. I've had better homemade bagels, but at their price and with their cream cheeses, I'll take it! Their house made cream cheese was delicious with mix-ins like cilantro or lox. Mmmm! They strive to use locally sourced ingredients, and their efforts are impressive. Their prices were also very reasonable, especially for a Bar Harbor establishment. They also have quite a few vegetarian and organic items on their menu.
(5)David D.
I do love this bakery! Their excellent coffee with two scones then I am a very happy person! Open all year.
(5)Kirby G.
We stopped in for dessert and beverage. The strawberry-rhubarb pie was good. The blueberry cupcakes were dry and had dust on the icing (ceiling fans I think). Yikes. One good item - one bad item. Two prior reviews mention employees being a bit stand-off-ish or snooty. We noticed the same thing. Odd.
(3)David G.
Great Coffee and bagel sandwich! The cheddar bagel with egg sausage and cheddar is one of the best things I have ever eaten! The quiche was good, but even after repeated heatings in the toaster oven was served cold
(4)Kate E.
Very popular local bakery with a good menu. I love that they support local farms; you can taste the difference in their sandwiches. They sandwiches are pricey but worth every penny. Their breads are good but not great. Their pastries can be hit or miss but are mostly good. My favorites are the savory pockets and whole wheat cheese bagel with humus. It's better to come early to avoid crowds in the summer.
(4)Erin M.
AMAZING place! Adorable bakery! I preordered a cherry pie while camping in Bar Harbor for my boyfriends birthday and it was very tasty! The next day was my birthday and my boyfriend surprised me with a triple chocolate cupcake!!! Soooo good. I think they put magic in the frosting. The bakery uses local and organic ingredients. The iced latte was so good! We had a couple of their sandwiches on their homemade bagels and they were to die for. I loved this place so much we went back every morning while we were staying there. The staff was super nice too. The baker in the back sings as she bakes and has a wonderful personality. If your looking for a place that is not touristy at all and has really really good baked goods, sandwiches, and coffee go here!
(5)Michael C.
This is a quintessential California/Bar Harbor Hippie Hangout. You can watch them making the pies through the doors of the kitchen in this bakery. Lots of fresh healthy choices for breakfast and lunch. Good coffee. Friendly service. A lot of locals. A lot of liberals. Nice. I got a blueberry cheese pastry that wasn't too sweet or doughy. Really good. For lunch, I had a veggie sandwich with hummus and greens that was also very good. The honey oat bread was delicious. Recommended.
(5)Nisa E.
Morning Glory Bakery was a good selection as bakeries go. Instead of lunch, I stopped for snacks. There was a pesto focaccia that I enjoyed very much; I would like to try and replicate it at home. I also had a chocolate butter cream cupcake which was delicious. There is limited seating, but they offer various coffees and a restroom. It seems their focus is more on take out large quantity baked goods, and not the single cupcake, but they managed to meet the need of the coffee and cupcake customer more than adequately.
(3)Erin F.
Fantastic baked treats and sandwiches that are wholesome without being too virtuous. Friendly, quick counter folks. Decent fair trade coffee. Prices would be inecpensive in my mid sized city hometown, and are downright cheap for expensive Bar Harbor. On several visits I had an outstanding cheese rhubarb Danish ($2.75,) a tender blueberry-laden coffee cake ($2,) a very inauthentic but still good bagel and pretzel ($2) and sandwiches. Partner LOVED a custardy smooth quiche. Sandwiches were well above average and made with local meats. Lots of veg options; plenty of kale and other local spring green things. I loved having raw, local milk with not-too-sweet excellent blueberry pie ($2.75 I think.) Bought whole pie ($15) to take to delighted Maine friends and great loaf of bread (all about $4.) Wish I had bought some organic pitas before heading home! Just a few tables, very warm/working-bakery temps, a few seats out front and back.. Thanks Morning Glory Bakery!'
(5)C S.
Almost skipped this place until we saw the long line of people (mostly locals) standing in line. That's a sure sign for us to check out the offerings. It smelled wonderful inside this tiny bakery/restaurant. We got breakfast pastries for the next morning and fresh, homemade soup, bread, and dessert for our dinner. Their blondies and cookies are exceptional and we went back for more.
(5)Acadia L.
We've been coming here for 16+ years, and were nervous when it changed ownership, but it is in great hands. Not only do they have delicious and unique bagels, but amazing cakes, so we decided on MG when it came time for selecting a wedding cake. We worked with the new owner to design the cake and it was amazing and decorated to match our custom cake toppers. We can't wait to go back on our anniversary and order a smaller version of our custom wedding cake to celebrate again.
(5)Tara W.
Been twice so far on our visit this year. Had a few sandwiches which were all delicious: Zephyr with Morningstar Farm Veggie Bacon, Cheese, avocado; Cream Cheese, gouda, cucumber; Homemade hummus, carrot, cucumber. Pretzels are awesome and come with a delicious honey mustard (coming from someone who doesn't like mustard). Soy chai was proper temperature and served in paper cup - extra greenness points. Chocolate cupcake average, but I'm not a cake fan. No real juice - had to settle for Nantucket Nectar sugar loaded one.
(4)C W.
Three stars because while the food is pretty amazing, the service there is horrid. I have never felt more unwelcome in any establishment I have ever been to. The counter girl acted like it was such a pain to get my friend and I bagels. And both bakers were glaring at me. There is a reason so many locals call this place "mean girls bakery". Smile, it'll help your tips.
(3)Carter E.
I have only one thing to say. Terrible!! The selection was dismal at best. The people at the counter were rude and it didn't taste very well.
(1)Elizabeth O.
Before my recent visit to Bar Harbor, I did a search for gluten free restaurants, bakeries, etc. so that I could enjoy meals with the rest of my family. I was pleased to find several options in the area. One that I was very excited about was Morning Glory Bakery. Their website stated that they offered nearly 12 different options for those on a GF diet. Score! On the last day that I was there, I finally made it to the bakery. I stepped into the cozy bakery (which conveniently offers free wi-fi) and I was drooling at the sight of all the tasty looking items. However, none of them were gluten free. I figured the items would be in a separate area to avoid cross contamination so I eagerly asked the girl behind the counter what GF items were available. *note: GF items are kept in the same showcase as the other non-GF offerings. If you are highly concerned about cross-contamination. I would avoid this place or place a phone order. Sadly, they only had one baked item that was GF on the day I went. Chocolate cookies. She said they were very popular so I ordered half a dozen. I wish I had ordered more and if I hadn't been flying across the country later that day, I would have. The cookies were delicious. They were chocolaty, chewy and slightly cakey. They had the taste and consistency of a good brownie more than a cookie, but that was NOT bad thing. I love brownies! Unlike many GF cookies, these did not have a weird "afterfeel". None of the graininess of the typical potato and rice cookie. I was satisfied with my purchase and hinted to my relatives that they should buy some more and send them to me. It has only been a few days so that may still happen. I have my fingers crossed. The cookies were decidedly the second best GF cookies I had ever had. The best GF cookies I have ever had are coincidentally, some almond horn cookies I discovered at the grocery store in Bar Harbor just days earlier. I am guessing that the bakery would have offered more variety with their GF goods had I called in advance. I may have even been able to order something specifically. Next time I visit, I will have to remember that. On another note, my parents each bought a dessert and they really enjoyed them. My mother bought a turtle bar dessert and my father bought a blueberry tart with crumb topping. I was very jealous of the blueberry tart, but alas I had to live vicariously through him. Overall, we give this place two thumbs up.

Cute little organic bakery on a side street. I enjoyed my almond croissant. BJ's sweet roll was hard and dried out. Maybe we just picked the wrong things.

Whenever I have a friend coming to visit, I pick up breakfast carbohydrates at Morning Glory. They bake better than I ever could and their prices are reasonable. Also the establishment gets huge props for 1) having cool people work there (full disclosure: a few of my friends either work there or have worked there) and 2) making you turn off your cell phone when you are in there. We need more cell free zones in the world and, if accompanied with pastry, even better.

Good coffee, outstanding sandwiches. The duck meatloaf sandwich was particularly delicious.

Morning Glory is one of the only bakeries in Bar Harbor. For the most part, it's great to stop by in the morning to grab a breakfast treat - muffin, pastry, etc - and coffee. I've also tasted a number of their cakes and breads at several of the restaurants in the area. Their goods are quite tasty. The reason it gets only three stars is the fact that the place closes before 2:00 PM! Really sucks if you want a deliciously baked treat in the afternoon, much as I always do. I say, keep your doors open longer!!!

Decided to drop in here for a cookie while in Bar Harbor and was really impressed with the array of baked goods they had along with their lunch menu. We decided to go back the next day for a breakfast sandwich on one of their home made bagels - simple, delicious and affordable. It was so good we went back the same day, again, for lunch! I got some pea soup, which was very delicious and hearty along with a grilled cheese sandwich with avocado. All extremely good. You can tell this place really takes pride in the quality of their food, which is great. Some of the people at the counter have a bit of an "I can't be bothered" hipster attitude, but it doesn't get in the way of you getting your food quickly. Also, very important: they have some of the best coffee I've found in Bar Harbor so far!

Your only morning stop in Bar Harbor. You'll gain weight just from the incredible smell of fresh pastries. Everything is baked overnight and warm in the morning. Pretty busy during the summer. It just doesn't get better than this. Try their cheese fill danish in the morning and then run 5 miles to work it off. It's worth every mile. There is limited seating inside and the chef crew make everything with a labor of love. Have fun.

They support local farms. They buy local wheat. They make sandwiches. They make soup. They are open until 7 at night. They use a lot of all natural and organic ingredients. Their pies are delicious. Their baked goods are simple, mostly well-executed, and tasty. They serve Rock City Coffee Roasters Coffee. And everything is made from scratch. How can you go wrong? morningglorybakery.com

Excellent bagels, pastires, quiche, coffee, free (slow) wifi, sticky buns...you get the idea. We were here a couple of days in a row. Great AM hangout!

Heaven! This was exactly what I was looking for in Bar Harbor... it is tucked away, but soooooo worth searching for! I had the cheese bagel with spicy cilantro cream cheese... I am starting to drool again while typing this... the bagel was perfectly toasted by the friendly staff and then given a generous amount of the cream cheese that had just the right bite! My kids split a cinnamon roll that was about the size of their head - it was soft, doughy and wonderful. I need to go back and sample everything! Coffee was good too.

OMG, extremely well prepared items with super fresh ingredients. Had some of the best pastries and baked goods ever. Definitely go here. They serve food as well. They make homemade chai tea too. Nice touch. Located on a little side street. Definitely worth finding this place. Great coffee too.

Read below - I agree - loads of good things to love about this place. We go here every day of vacation for our breakfast and coffee - every time we visit. They make a killer chocolate espresso scone. Every neighborhood should have a place like this.

Do not go anywhere else for your bakery fix. Woof! Woof!!!! Polite staff, who are clearly enthusiastic about their product (which is world class). I particularly loved the sticky buns. The almond croissant was equally impressive. Hey, the coffee was quite good too. Four trips - one for each day - put it on your must visit list.

A great bargain in any area! Tasty sandwhiches and quiches plus delicious desert items. Very good coffee as well

Great and interesting sandwiches and baked goods. I had the chicken, bacon, arugula and apple sandwich. Apple tastes great in a sandwich. They had some great apricot pastries also.

There is a reason this little place is hopping every day! It's awesome! I am a vegan, so I was psyched to see they offered two sandwich options: Hummus or the Mountain Mama. I went with the creative Mountain Mama. What a sandwich! Served on a freshly made "hoagie" from the shop's bakery, it included baked tofu (Maine-made Heiwa brand), local greens, pickled carrots, and pickled radishes with a cilantro Veganaise-based dressing. The Mountain Mama was not merely a token vegan offering; it was an inventive item bursting with flavor. I love that this place uses local products when possible as well as their own bread. As a Mainer, the one thing I thought was hilarious is that they called the bread my sandwich was on a hoagie. No one in Maine calls it that. In good weather, you can sit out front, although you'll be lucky to snag one of the four seats on such a day. I'm so happy I found this place. Yeah, for Morning Glory Bakery!

Excellent Pastries. Overall, nothing that I had stood out as exceptional compared to other fine artisan bakeries around the country and world, , but this is a fine quality local bakery and a welcome addition to the Bar Harbor market. Not worth driving out of your way to, but a fine choice for a high quality and affordable bite to eat when in Bar Harbor.

Disappointed!!!! Their baked goods are way overpriced. Charging NYC prices for poor quality baked goods. This place does not deserve 4 1/2 stars on yelp and rave reviews in my guide book. This was a mediocre bakery (with somewhat snooty waitstaff). This place only survives because there is nothing better in this town. Their best was a lemon blueberry bread; tiny tasty treat, but certainly not worth $2.50!!! Rye bread was acceptable, but $4! Sourdough baguette was hard as a rock, a bit stale, and just not tasty. Also tried their sticky bun (stale, overcooked, not very sticky) and their danishes (the rhubarb cheese one was acceptable). The bakery does claim to have free wifi so that may be a pro. It was also centrally located in town, within walking distance to a lot of other places. I came back for a second time just to give them a 2nd chance, and was again disappointed. Let's hope they're much better during high/summer season!

I love this bakery! I was really impressed by all the local ingredients they use . Really great atmosphere, kick-a$$ baked goods and espresso drinks. Love those spinach twists! Thank you Mo-Glo!

Morning Glory Bakery is the type of coffee shop and bakery that I would frequent if I lived in Bar Harbor. Morning Glory is located on a side street and offers a relaxed atmosphere with 4-5 small tables inside and and a few chairs outside. We ordered a cappuccino, homemade chai, the Ralphy sandwich, and a scone. I liked the cappuccino but did not drink much of it; my husband said that the cappuccino was good and he would order it again. The chai was excellent and had the right mix of spices. The Ralphy sandwich was pulled-chicken with a light curry sauce, cucumber, and lettuce on sourdough bread. This sandwich is fantastic. My mouth is watering just thinking of the balanced flavors and the fresh ingredients. The scone was equally amazing with a moist sweetness that left me craving more. The two coffees that we took for the road were also good. Morning Glory Bakery is the perfect place to go for quality baked goods and coffee drinks in Bar Harbor.
